INDIANAPOLIS – Coming off only one match last weekend, the IUPUI women’s tennis team will have a busy weekend ahead with three matches in three days beginning with a match-up against Northern Illinois at the West Indy Racquet Club on Friday, Feb. 15.
Following Friday night’s match, the Jaguars will hit the road for Kalamazoo, Mich. While in Kalamazoo, the Jaguars will take on the Western Michigan Broncos and the Bradley Braves on Saturday, Feb. 16 and Sunday, Feb. 17, respectively.
“We are looking forward to these matches this weekend. The first one is against another MAC opponent at home and then we are back on the road against two more good teams,” interim head coach
Pat Nickell said. “Playing three matches in a weekend always presents a physical challenge, but we feel this is what we need. We continue to focus on getting better as we approach Summit League play. This weekend gives us a good opportunity to see where we are as a team.”
In IUPUI’s lone match last weekend, it fell at Illinois State, 5-2, but freshmen
Bobbi Modesto and
Jaclyn Hyman both claimed wins for the Jaguars.
For Modesto, she claimed her fourth straight singles win and upped her singles record to 5-2 on the season. Hyman, on the other hand, registered her first career singles win.
Northern Illinois and Western Michigan both enter the weekend with winning records of 5-1 and 4-2, respectively, while Bradley is 1-2.
