INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI Athletics Department and Head Basketball Coach Todd Howard have announced that former Ole Miss and international standout Todd Abernethy has joined the Jaguars' staff as Director of Operations, effective immediately. Abernethy, a Carmel, Ind., native, was a star guard at Ole Miss and recently completed a six-year professional playing career overseas.

In his role, he'll assist the Jaguars' coaching staff with day-to-day operations, administrative functions and video coordination.

While at Ole Miss, Abernethy was a three-year team captain and earned All-SEC honors in 2006-07. He was the league's Sixth Man of the Year in 2004-05 and named to the SEC's Academic Honor Roll three times. He closed his collegiate career with 1,036 points, averaging 8.5 points per game in 122 contests. He ultimately earned his degree in banking and finance in 2007 and was Ole Miss' nominee for the H. Boyd McWhorter Scholar-Athlete Post Graduate Scholarship.

Following his graduation, he immediately began playing professionally in the Netherlands. Over his six-year international career, he played in Estonia, Latvia, Poland and the Ukraine. In 2010, he helped his Tartu Rock squad to the Estonia National Championship, while later helping BK Ventspils to the Final 8 of the Eurochallenge in Latvia 2012. He later founded Todd Abernethy Basketball Camp in Latvia, training the top high school players in Ventspils, Latvia.

Todd and his wife, Micah, have two daughters, Ruthie and Maria. His wife was a member of the Ole Miss cross country and track teams. Abernethy's father, Tom, was a member of the 1976 Indiana Hoosier team that went 32-0 and won the NCAA title. His dad later played six years in the NBA for the Lakers, Warriors and Pacers.

Todd's two brothers, Matt and Andy, also played basketball collegiately. Matt played at Grace College and Andy played at Bethel College.
