MUNCIE, Ind. – The IUPUI women’s tennis team hit the road for the first time on Saturday afternoon traveling to nearby Ball State University, but the Jags were unable to earn their first win of the season falling 6-1 to the Cardinals.
The Jags fell behind early by a point after dropping two doubles matches, but the Jags were able to get a point at the top of the singles lineup.
Shelby Hullett won a tightly contested first set at the No. 1 position, 7-6, before cruising to a 6-2 second-set win to get IUPUI’s lone point of the day.
From that point on, the Jags were not able to string anything together for the rest of singles action falling in straight sets in the final five singles matches.
The Jags return home for a pair of matches next weekend when they host Wisconsin-Milwaukee at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, before closing out the weekend with a 1:30 p.m. meeting with Dayton on Saturday, Jan. 26.
