LORTON, Va. - The IUPUI men's golf team shot a respectable final round 306 at the CHAMPS/Patriot Intercollegiate at Laurel Hill on Sunday (Sept. 30), but was unable to make a move after falling into an insurmountable hole on day one of the 54-hole event. The Jaguars closed at 932 (324-302-306), finishing 11 shots back of 11th place Drexel as IUPUI placed 12th of 13 teams.

Missouri dominated the event with a 3-under 849 while Penn was second at 873. Villanova (874), Hofstra (877) and Delaware (880) rounded out the top five.

Senior Matt Bruce paced the Jaguars at 17-over 230 including a final round 73. Junior Rob van de Vin also fared well during Sunday's final round, shooting a 74 to finish at 232.

Collectively, IUPUI struggled to make pars as the Jaguars were at the bottom of the 13-team field with just 132 pars over 54 holes. Freshman Bryce Very finished at 234 (79-75-80) and sophomore Santiago Ruiz closed at 236 (81-76-79).

Sophomore Cole Adams, playing in just his second career tournament, rounded out the Jaguars lineup at 255 (84-83-88).

Mizzou's Jace Long earned medalist honors with a 4-under 209 and his teammate Emilio Cuartero and Villanova's Michael Kania tied for second at 211.

IUPUI will return to action this weekend with a busy stretch of two tournaments stretched out over four days. The Jaguars will participate in the John Dallio Memorial, hosted by DePaul at Ruffled Feathers in Lemont, Ill. on Oct. 6-7 before returning home to play in the Oct. 8-9 Butler Fall Invitational at Highland on the city's near Northside.
