DAYTON, Ohio - Wright State jumped in front of IUPUI less than 20 minutes in and added a pair of second half insurance goals as the Raiders knocked off the Jaguars, 3-0 at Alumni Field on Tuesday (Sept. 11) night. Derek Zuniga netted the game-winning goal and later added an assist for the Raiders.

IUPUI dropped to 2-5 on the year while Wright State improved to 2-4 this season. The Jaguars remained winless in road games against WSU dating back to the start of the series in 1999.

Zuniga put the Raiders on top in the 19th minute, thanks to assists from Will Gbelee and Albert Nilsson. The lead held, although IUPUI almost drew even in the game's 37th minute.

The Jaguars earned their second of four corner kicks on the night and left-footed senior Sean McGrath sent the ball in the neighborhood of 6-foot-7 freshman Michael Sass in the 42nd minute. Sass, who scored the game-winner against Northern Kentucky on Sunday, again climbed the ladder but had his header attempt ring off the crossbar. IUPUI wouldn't get another quality scoring chance for nearly 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, Wright State kept persistent pressure on freshman goalkeeper Eduardo Cortes and the Jaguars' defense. The Raiders finally broke through in the 69th minute, beginning with Zuniga having a shot blocked that resulted in a WSU corner kick. On the corner, Emeka Ononye tallied his second goal of the year to put the Raiders in front 2-0. Angelo Capuano capped the night's scoring with his second goal of the year in the game's 88th minute.

Cortes, who entered play ranked No. 2 in the nation in both saves (35) and saves per game (7.0) had a busy Tuesday night, making nine stops. The Texas-native's nine saves were just one shy of matching his season-high. Junior Ian Block led the Jaguars offensive attack, attempting four of the team's nine shots. Zuniga had eight shot attempts, five of which were on frame.

Tuesday marked just the second time this season the Jaguars had been blanked, both of which have occurred on the road.

The Jaguars will return to action this weekend when they take part in the Chicago South Loop Hotel UIC Soccer Classic. On Friday (Sept. 14), IUPUI will play host UIC at 8:30 p.m. Eastern before they take on Wisconsin on Sunday (Sept. 16) at noon Eastern.
