SACRAMENTO - Former IUPUI standout
Alex Young is among 19 players who have been invited to participate in the Sacramento Kings' minicamp in preparation for the Las Vegas Summer League, to be held July 13-19. Young went undrafted in last week's NBA Draft, despite having worked out for 15 teams in preparation for the event. Young worked out for the Kings on June 24 alongside Zach Rosen (Penn), Eli Holman (Detroit), Kyle O'Quinn (Norfolk State) and Kenny Gabriel (Auburn).
The Kings' summer roster is highlighted by 2012 first round draft pick Thomas Robinson (Kansas) and 2011 first rounder Jimmer Fredette (BYU). Other professional veterans on the roster include former Kansas-standout Darnell Jackson, former Notre Dame-star Rob Kurz and former Marshall big man Hassan Whiteside. The other 15 players are considered NBA rookies and include Patrick Christopher (Cal), Gabriel, Yancey Gates (Cincinnati), Augustus Gilchrist (South Florida) Jarrod Jones (Ball State) and Edgar Sosa (Louisville).
Bobby Jackson and Alex English will coach the Kings' squad.
The Kings will open Summer League play against Charlotte on July 13 at 7:00 p.m. at COX Pavilion before playing the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday, July 14 at 5:00 p.m.. The Summer League will conclude with games against Houston (July 16), Toronto (July 18) and Boston (July 19), all played at the Thomas & Mack Center.
