INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI women’s tennis team closed out its regular season in impressive fashion Saturday morning at the Butler Bubble defeating Western Illinois, 4-0.
The win moved IUPUI’s record to 8-18 overall and 3-5 in the Summit League, and gave the Jags their fifth win in their last six matches.
The Jaguars jumped out to the early lead as their No. 1 and No. 2 teams of Vanessa Whye and
Abbey Neff and
Shelby Hullett and
Rachael Bridegroom dominated in 8-0 victories that put IUPUI in front, 1-0.
In singles action,
Jesika Bays won her No. 6 singles match by default to move the Jags lead to 2-0, and that was followed by 6-0, 6-0 wins from Hullett and Whyte at the No. 4 and No. 3 spots, respectively, to clinch the victory for the Jaguars.
Despite
Danielle Haefele and
Alisha Cummings up a set in their respective matches, their matches went unfinished once Whyte completed her straight sets victory.
