CARMEL, Ind. – Playing its final home match before its first Summit League Cluster in two weeks, the IUPUI women's tennis team fell just short to Chicago State, 4-3, Saturday afternoon at Five Seasons Sports Club in Carmel, Ind.
The loss dropped the Jaguars record to 3-10.
IUPUI fell behind early as Chicago State took the first two doubles matches to capture the doubles point and go in front, 1-0.
Unfortunately for the Jags, the singles decisions were split in half as the Cougars won at the No. 1, 2 and 3 singles spots, while IUPUI swept the 4-6 singles matches resulting in a 4-3 win for Chicago State.
Vanessa Whyte took the No. 4 singles match 6-1, 6-1, and was followed by
Abbey Neff's 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 5 spot.
Rachael Bridegroom closed out the Jags wins with a 6-0, 6-1 win at the sixth slot.
IUPUI heads to Butler on Friday, March 9, to play its final tune-up prior to the first Summit League cluster in Las Vegas March 15-17.
