ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Following Monday night's loss to No. 5/5 Michigan, the IUPUI basketball team will take on Bowling Green (1-1) second round of the North Regional of the NIT Season Tip-Off at 5:00 p.m. inside Crisler Center on Tuesday (Nov. 13). IUPUI (1-1) played the nation's fifth-ranked Michigan Wolverines tough for nearly 30 minutes before the hosts ran away from the Jaguars over the final 10 minutes. Senior guard
John Hart was IUPUI's lone double-digit scorer with 15 points and sophomore
Jordan Shanklin netted a career-high nine points off the bench. Michigan shot (2-0) a blistering 60 percent overall and hit 13-of-21 (61.9 percent) from three-point range. Glenn Robinson III netted a career-high 21 points and sophomore point guard Trey Burke led all scorers with 22 points and nine assists.
IUPUI got a nice game from junior Mitchell Patton on the inside, who scored nine points in a career-best 31 minutes work and
Donovan Gibbs tallied seven points. The loss dropped IUPUI to 0-13 all-time against nationally ranked opponents in the Division I-era and 0-2 all-time against Michigan.
BGSU (1-1) lost a 79-73 overtime decision to Cleveland State on Monday, despite a career-high 30-point effort from A'uston Calhoun. The 6-foot-7 senior forward hit 12-of-17 shots, including a pair of threes in the loss. Calhoun leads the Falcons in scoring (18.0 ppg) and rebounding (7.0 rpg) in the season's early going, while 5-foot-6 guard Jordon Crawford is tops on the team in assists with 10 in two games.
BG won their season opener over Lake Erie, 63-53 prior to last night's loss.
Hart comes in as IUPUI's leader in scoring (17.0) while Gibbs is the team's top rebounder at 5.5 per game. Senior guard
Greg Rice is IUPUI's top assist man with seven in two games.
After tonight's game, IUPUI will return home to host Bradley on Saturday in a regionally televised game on Comcast Sports Chicago. The Jaguars will conclude play in the NIT Season Tip-Off at the start of next week, although the host site and opponents are still yet to be determined.
