FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IUPUI women's soccer team rallied from a second half deficit but ultimately fell short as the Jaguars dropped a 2-1 decision at Fort Wayne in the 2012 season finale on a chilly Sunday (Oct. 28) afternoon. Freshman Grace Perkowitz netted her third goal of the season in the loss, but IPFW's Danielle Bishop countered with a pair of goals.

After a scoreless first half, Fort Wayne (9-7-1, 5-2-1 Summit) went in front just 33 seconds into the second half against Kristin Haseley. Bishop netted her fifth goal of the season, finishing a cross from Rachel Good that she rolled through the Jaguars' penalty box.

However, IUPUI showed some immediate resolve and pulled even less than four minutes later. Sophomore Taylor Heidorn shifted a cross through the IPFW box in the direction of Perkowitz. The freshman ripped a shot off the underside of the crossbar and had it deflect into the net for her third career goal.

The match stayed even until the 74th minute when the Mastodons got the break they needed. Bishop was awarded a penalty kick after an IUPUI foul and capitalized on the opportunity. Haseley made a brilliant save on the initial attempt, but was unable to control the rebound and Bishop charged the net and pushed a follow-up shot in for the game-winner.

IPFW dominated play offensively, outshooting IUPUI 27-6 overall and 11-2 on target. Arianne Mason led the 'Dons attack with 10 attempts while no IUPUI player had multiple shots. Sophomore Brenna Parks was the only other player to manage a shot on goal besides Perkowitz' goal.

Junior Giselle Guzman made four saves in a scoreless first half before Haseley made five second half stops. Sam Pavlika needed one save in the win for the 'Dons.

After a slow start to the season, Guzman was superb in net during Summit League play. The California-native registered a 0.67 goals against average in eight starts with a .919 save percentage and 57 total saves.

Junior Ashley Doreski finished the year as the squad's leading scorer with four goals. Overall, IUPUI graduates just one senior off this year's club in defender Kelli Parks. Parks missed Sunday's match after collecting her fifth yellow card of the season on Friday.

For her career, Parks appeared in 78 games and made 45 starts with two goals and four assists. The Valparaiso-native tallied the game-winner in the 2009 Summit League Championship match, leading IUPUI to its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance.
