INDIANAPOLIS - Kickoff for the women's soccer Senior Day matchup with Omaha has been moved up an hour and will now begin at noon at Michael A. Carroll Stadium on Sunday (Oct. 21). The match was moved up an hour to help accommodate Omaha's travel. IUPUI will honor the duo of
Leah Cage and
Kelli Parks immediately after Sunday's affair.
On the field, IUPUI (2-12-2, 0-3-2 Summit) has continued to be terrific defensively, allowing just five goals in the past six games. However, the stout defense hasn't equated to victories as the offense has scored just one time in the previous five matches after a four-goal outburst at DePauw on Sept. 20.
After a rocky start to the year, junior goalkeeper
Giselle Guzman has been fantastic, lowering her goals against average to 1.73 and collecting 97 stops in her 15 starts. In Summit League play, Guzman has a 0.73 goals against average and .905 save percentage in five outings. The back line of Parks,
Sarah Carlisle,
Lauren Kulaga and
Kristin Pierce has molded into an effective group, yielding just four goals in Summit League play.
Offensively, junior
Ashley Doreski leads the Jaguars with four goals, including scoring at South Dakota State this past weekend. Both
Grace Perkowitz and
Mackenzie Calvert have two goals each and freshman
Kalli Shepler-Tucker leads the squad with three assists. Sophomore
Taylor Heidorn has also been one of the team's top target players, attempting 29 shots in 16 starts.
Omaha (3-11, 3-1 Summit) has four Summit League play more welcoming that non-conference action, having won three out of four to start the league schedule. Last weekend, the Mavs claimed a road sweep at South Dakota and Kansas City, winning each by a single-goal margin. Danielle Archuleta leads the way with five goals in 14 games and Anna Sibson has a team-high four assists. Meaghan Clark is UNO's top goalie, posting a 2.38 goals against average and 71 saves in 14 games.
Hannah Wampler earned Summit League Offensive Player of the Week honors on Monday after a five-point weekend. Wampler netted the game-winner against South Dakota with just 20 seconds left in regulation.
Sunday's match marks the first-ever meeting between the two schools in women's soccer.
