EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - The IU Indianapolis women's soccer team tallied a pair of second half goals to erase a two-goal deficit and earn a road draw at SIUE on a steamy Sunday (Aug. 23) at Ralph Korte Stadium.
Keilah Muldrow tallied in the 62nd minute for the Jaguars and
Hannah Roberson added an equalizer in the 72nd minute to cap the comeback.
The Jags appeared to have a go-ahead goal in the 79th minute off the toe of
Maci Sammons, but the score was later disallowed after a video review ruled her offsides. Senior
Lindsey Castillo finished with a pair of assists and Green Bay-transfer
Elle Blessinger had an assist from her defensive post.
Sophomore
Isabel Oferosky finished with three saves, all in the first half, as the Jaguars closed with a 13-11 shot advantage, despite SIUE's 13-3 margin in corner kicks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Jaguars fell behind 2-0 as SIUE scored in the 12th and 15th minutes. Tori Bockstadter tallied in the 12th minute from in close and MaryClaire Imig delivered a score less than three minutes later. Things could have been worse for the Jaguars to start the game, but
Shannon Phillips cleared a shot off the endline in the opening minutes to initially keep the host Cougars off the scoreboard.
The Jaguars finally broke through in the 62nd minute when Muldrow slipped in behind the SIUE defensive line on a restart. Castillo flicked Blessinger's free kick to the sprinting junior, who redirected a header on frame for her second score of the year.
Less than 10 minutes later, junior
Olivia Hopper did the heavy lifting near the corner flag before Castillo gathered just before the endline. Castillo drilled a cross into danger where Roberson hammered a header past the SIUE keeper.
