LAS VEGAS – In its final Summit League match of the weekend, the IUPUI women’s tennis team defeated Centenary College in convincing fashion winning 7-0 Saturday morning at Bally’s Resort in Las Vegas.
Vanessa Whyte and
Shelby Hullett then capped off the doubles play winning their No. 2 doubles tilt with an 8-3 margin of victory clinching the doubles point.
In singles action, Haefele was the first to finish her match and she did so in dominating fashion with a 6-1, 6-0, straight sets triumph over Holden Penney.
From that point, Whyte, Cummings, and
Lee Matthews each followed with 6-0, 6-0 wins. Whyte, who was playing in her first four conference matches of her career, completed the weekend with a perfect 4-0 record in singles action with her win on Saturday.
Hullett also completed a solid weekend with a 6-2, 6-0 win at the No. 1 singles spot, giving her a 3-1 record at the top of the order during the four-match span.
The win improved the Jags record to 2-16 on the season and 1-3 in Summit League play.
IUPUI returns to the court in 10 days when it heads to Indiana Wesleyan on Wednesday, March 29.
