INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI women’s tennis team concluded a three-day, four-match stretch on Sunday falling to Chicago State, 4-3.
The Jaguars were able to jump in front early winning the doubles point as
Shelby Hullett and
Vanessa Whyte led the No. 2 doubles tandem to an 8-6 victory, before IUPUI captured the No. 3 doubles match.
In singles play, Hullett and Whyte each came up short in straight sets to Chicago State’s No. 1 and 2 singles players to start things off.
Unfortunately for the Jags,
Alisha Cummings and
Lee Matthews didn’t fare much better as they also dropped straight-set decisions helping Chicago State close out the 4-3 win.
The loss dropped IUPUI to 1-13 on the season.
The Jaguars begin conference play this weekend in Las Vegas when they will take on UMKC, Oakland, Southern Utah, and Centenary. IUPUI opens conference play on Thursday, March 17, against UMKC, before taking on both Oakland and Southern Utah on Friday, March 18. The Jags close out the first round of conference action on Saturday, March 18, against Centenary.
