INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI basketball team will host its first of six consecutive home games when the Jaguars welcome Western Kentucky (4-6) to the Jungle on Saturday (Dec. 10) night at 7:00 p.m.. Saturday's game will be broadcast on Fox College Sports and DirecTV channel 617 as Randy Lee (pxp) and Hal Schmitt (analyst) describe the action. In the Indianapolis-market, Greg Rakestraw (pxp) will be on the call on WNDE 1260 AM and that broadcast will also be available on WNDE.com and via the free iHeartRadio app available on smartphones.  In addition, the game can be viewed as part of the IUPUI LIVE! subscription service on Saturday.

IUPUI (2-8) comes in looking to stop a four-game losing streak after Wednesday's 90-60 loss at No. 5/4 Louisville inside the KFC Yum! Center. The Jaguars trailed 40-35 at the half, but saw the Cardinals shoot 59 percent from the floor in the second half and made just 10-of-38 (26.3 percent) shots at the other end in the loss. Chris Smith led four UofL players in double-digits with 19 points and Gorgui Dieng was a perfect 8-of-8 from the floor and closed with 18 points and 12 boards.

Senior point guard Stephen Thomas was the lone Jag to finish in double-figures as he tallied 14 points, five boards and six assists in 34 minutes off the bench. Thomas and the Jaguars made it rain threes in the first half, hitting 7-of-13 attempts in the first 20 minutes before making just 2-of-10 after halftime. In all, seven different IUPUI players made at least one triple with Thomas hitting 3-of-6 attempts. Senior Alex Young turned in nine points, seven rebounds and three steals, but accounted for eight of the Jaguars' 20 turnovers. The Cards turned IUPUI's 20 miscues into 26 points.

Louisville-native Lyonell Gaines scored eight points in 10 minutes off the bench and both Mitchell Patton and Christian Siakam scored seven apiece. IUPUI head coach Todd Howard shook up the starting lineup, bringing Young off the bench for the first time in 80 games, while Thomas also came off the bench. Freshman Jordan Shanklin made his first career start and two other Louisville-natives, Donovan Gibbs and Ian Chiles, got the nod in their hometown.

WKU comes in having won two straight including a 62-55 victory at Southern Illinois on Wednesday night. The Hilltoppers top three scorers are all freshmen, paced by 6-foot-2 guard Derrick Gordon at 10.8 ppg. The New Jersey-native leads the squad in assists (21), free throws made (38) and is second on the team in rebounding (6.0 rpg). Fellow freshman George Fant, a high school teammate of Shanklin's, comes in averaging 9.0 points and 6.2 rebounds per game, while having also blocked 10 shots in just six games. 6-foot-11 junior Teeng Akol provides the 'Toppers with size in the middle, averaging 7.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and nearly two blocks per game. In all, WKU has 12 different players averaging better than 10 minutes per game, 11 of which have started at least one game this season.

IUPUI comes in 0-1 all-time against WKU, having lost an 89-75 affair in Bowling Green, Ky. back on Nov. 22, 2005. Brandon Cole led four Jags in double-digits that night with 20 points and Maushae Byles added 15 points and four assists off the bench. Anthony Winchester scored a game-high 29 points and 11 boards for the victors and Indianapolis-native Courtney Lee netted 20 points and four assists.

Adult reserved tickets to Saturday's game are just $10 with kids 12-and-under admitted for $7. Children 4-and-under are admitted for free, as are IUPUI students with a valid JagTag.
