INDIANAPOLIS - At the beginning of this basketball season it was a pretty easy choice for the coaches, media, and Summit League SID’s to place IUPUI junior
Alex Young on the preseason first team. A season ago the 6-6 lefty helped lead the Jaguars to a runner-up finish in the regular season and a post season birth. Entering this season the fate of the team was in large part going to be decided by Alex Young.
Would he be able to handle being the focus of opposing defenses? Can Alex score on double teams? Will he force the action or will he pass the ball to an open teammate? Was his success a year ago a product of a great team and an excellent front court? Through 20 games Alex has answered all of those questions and in the process is rewriting the IUPUI record book.
