INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI men's soccer team picked up a hard fought 2-0 win over the alumni on Saturday afternoon at Michael A. Carroll Stadium. More than 20 soccer alumni returned to Indianapolis for the annual match at the on-campus facility.
Sophomore
Brock Brungard and freshman
Max Bailey supplied the offense in the victory.
The day concluded as the alumni gathered at the BW3's downtown, owned by IUPUI Hall of Famer Tony Kwiatkowski. Head Coach
Steve Franklin's squad will officially open its exhibition slate on Sunday when it travels to Kentucky to take on Northern Kentucky. NKU went 15-6-2 a year ago and earned a spot in the NCAA Division II National Tournament. The Norse played Cincinnati to a 1-1 draw on Friday at the NKU Soccer Stadium.
IUPUI is coming off a 5-11-3 season in which 10 of team's 11 losses came by a single goal. The Jaguars' top two scorers from a year ago,
Perez Agaba and
Nate Ohmer, both return, as does starting goalkeeper
Tyler Keever. In all, eight starters from last year's team are back among 18 returning letterwinners.
Both live stats and live audio for Sunday's match will be available via the website.
