UP NEXT
·         IUPUI has 15 days off before heading down south to Savannah, Ga., where it will square off with Savannah State on Tuesday, Dec. 28.

LAST TIME OUT ...
·         For the second consecutive game, IUPUI forced 30-plus turnovers and Janna Eichelberger collected a double-double, leading the Jaguars to a 65-48 victory over Southern Illinois .
·         Twenty of the Salukis 31 turnovers resulted in steals for the Jaguars.
·         Eichelberger led all players with 17 points and 10 rebounds, her second double-double in as many games.
·         While Eichelberger’s numbers stood out, the slashing and timely buckets from Jasmine Horne seemed to halt any momentum for the Salukis. Horne connected on 7-of-9 field goals resulting in a career-high 14 points.
·         After a sluggish start in which both teams hit just one field goal apiece in the first five minutes, the Jaguars frontcourt trio of Clara Mitchell, Eichelberger, and Demetria Nunley-Lash spurred an 8-0 run over a 1:17 stretch that put them in front, 10-2, with 13:50 on the clock.
·         From the 11:32 mark to the 4:21 mark, the Jaguars held the Salukis to one field goal while going on a 17-5 spurt that opened up a 27-13 lead.
·         Southern Illinois countered with a 12-2 run, cutting the IUPUI lead to four points with 1:25 to play in the opening period, but a bucket by Eichelberger and a layup by Luster in the final minute pushed the Jaguars lead to eight points, 33-25, entering halftime.
·         In the opening 9:10 of the second half, Southern Illinois chipped away at the IUPUI halftime lead and cut its deficit to six points, 42-36, with 10:51 on the clock.
·         From that point, the next 14 Jaguars points came from inside the paint or from the free throw line before a Gaskin jumper at the 6:45 mark capped off a 16-3 run, widening the IUPUI advantage to 58-39.
·         Twice the Jags were able to expand their lead to 20 points and from there they coasted to a 65-48 win.
·         While one of the highlights for IUPUI was forcing 31 turnovers, the Jaguars committed a season-low 13 turnovers and dished out 17 assists.

TURNAROUND
·         Last season, the Jaguars finished 3-26, setting a school-record for the most single-season losses in program history.
·         Under the direction of first-year head coach Austin Parkinson, IUPUI earned its third win of the season on Friday, Dec. 10, with a 65-48 win over Southern Illinois., matching the 2009-10 win total in just nine games.
·         The combined margin of victory of 45 points is the highest combined win total since the 2008-09 season, when IUPUI defeated Southern Utah (Feb. 2, 2009) and North Dakota State (Feb. 7, 2009) by a combined 45 points.

ROAD WOES
·         When the Jaguars head to Brooklyn Heights, N.Y. to take on St. Francis College, IUPUI will be looking to erase its road losing skid.
·         The Jags are 0-1 on the road this season, losing its lone road game at then- No. 16 Notre Dame on Nov. 26.
·         IUPUI’s last road win came on Feb. 28, 2009, when the Jaguars closed out the 2008-09 regular season with a win over Western Illinois.
·         After going 0-14 away from home last season and dropping its lone road game this season, the Jaguars will look to end their 15-game road losing streak.

STEPPING UP
·         In IUPUI’s last two games, the Jaguars have seen increased productivity from Janna Eichelberger.
·         Eichelberger has put together back-to-back double-doubles in wins over Centenary and Southern Illinois.
·         On Dec. 6, Eichelberger lead IUPUI with a career-high 21 points and grabbed 13 rebounds en route to a 74-46 win.
·         Eichelberger followed that performance with a 17-point, 10-rebound outing against Southern Illinois on Dec. 10.
·         Eichelberger has had some help from her teammates during the two-game stretch.
·         Gretchen Gaskin has chipped in 14 points and nine points, respectively, in the last two contests, while Jasmine Horne added a career-high 14 points against Southern Illinois.

BENCH PLAY
·         In the three games at the WBCA Classic, IUPUI had a standout performer from its bench in all three games.
·         In the first game against No. 16 Notre Dame, Demetria Nunley-Lash came off the bench and scored a team-high seven points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds, both marking career highs.
·         In the second game against Butler, Janna Eichelberger dominated the glass with a career-high 14 rebounds and fell two points shy of a double-double.
·         Eichelberger continued her dominance on the glass in the finale with 11 rebounds, marking the second time in her career she has posted back-to-back double-figure rebounding performances.
·         Since the WBCA Classic, the trend productivity of the bench has continued.
·         Shea Collins tied a career-high with 13 points off the bench against Oral Roberts, with nine of Collins’ points coming from behind-the-arc.
·         Against Centenary, Eichelberger scored a career-high 21 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, while Collins hit three treys for the second game in a row resulting in an additional nine points.
·         IUPUI’s bench has outscored its opponents bench 93-26 over the past three games, including 41-3 against Centenary.

SPREADING THE WEALTH
·         The Jaguars struggled in the opening stages of the season setting teammates up for good shots.
·         IUPUI was averaging over 10.0 assists per game through its 1-5 start, but that all changed in its Summit League opener.
·         The Jaguars dished out a season-high 21 assists in the 13-point loss to Oral Roberts.
·         The sharing continued against Centenary of Dec. 6, as the Jags improved upon the total from the Oral Roberts game by distributing a new season-high 23 assists.
·         Freshman Dawn Luster led the way with six assists and her 5.0 apg average in conference-only play is tied for third in the Summit League.
·         The consecutive 20-plus assist performances marked the first time since the 2007-08 season that the Jags have collected 20 or more assists in back-to-back games (Feb. 18, 2008 vs. Centenary, 27 assists; Feb. 23, 2008 vs. Oakland, 20 assists).
·         While the Jaguars fell three assists shy of 20 against Southern Illinois, they committed a season-low 13 turnovers marking the second time this season IUPUI has posted more assists than turnovers.

POINTS IN THE PAINT
·         Through the first six games, IUPUI struggled scoring in the paint.
·         During that stretch, the Jaguars were being outscored 34.3 to 19.0 by their opponents in the lane and just 42.1 percent of their total points were coming in the paint .
·         Against Oral Roberts, the Jags scored 40 of their 70 points in the paint, marking season-highs in both total points and points in the paint.
·         Those season-highs were short-lived as the Jags came out on Dec. 6 against Centenary and scored 46 points inside and scored 74 total points.
·         The Jags made it three games in a row scoring 40-plus points in the lane by scoring 40 points in the paint in a 65-48 win over Southern Illinois.
·         Compared to scoring 42.1 percent of their points in the paint in the early stages of the season, the Jaguars have scored 60.3 percent of their points in the paint in the last two contests.
·         Scoring more points in the paint has increased IUPUI’s shooting percentage as IUPUI’s field goal percentage has gone up from 32.0 percent over the first six games to 38.0 percent after nine games thanks to 48.6 percent shooting from the floor over the last three games.

DEEP THREAT
·         With the increased productivity in the lane, the Jaguars have been able to work the ball inside out resulting in more wide open jumpers for their perimeter players.
·         One of the players who have proven to be a deep threat for IUPUI is Shea Collins.
·         Collins is averaging 8.3 ppg in IUPUI’s last three games and is hitting 2.3 3-pointers per game during that stretch.
·         She has hit three 3-pointers in a game three times this season and leads the team in 3-point field goals made (13).
·         On the season, she is averaging 1.4 treys per game, ranking her eighth in the Summit League.

GRAND THEFT
·         The Jaguars turned up the defensive intensity against Oral Roberts and forced the Golden Eagles into 22 turnovers.
·         18 of those 22 turnovers were steals by the Jaguars.
·         Dawn Luster posted a team and career high with five steals, while fellow freshman Del’Niqua Bellamy added a career-high four steals.
·         The defensive intensity has continued against Centenary and Southern Illinois.
·         The last two games, IUPUI has forced both Centenary and Southern Illinois into 31 turnovers apiece.
·         20 of the 31 turnovers for Southern Illinois resulted in steals for the Jaguars, marking their first 20-steal performance of the season and the first since posting 21 steals against Oakland on Jan. 28, 2008.
·         In conference-only contests, IUPUI leads the Summit League in steals per game averaging 17.0 spg.

DE-DE DEFENSE
·         Nine games in to her freshman season, Del’Niqua Bellamy has shown she is one of the top defenders in head coach Austin Parkinson’s rotation.
·         Bellamy leads the team in steals (2.0 spg), and despite being one of the smaller players on the team at 5-3, she leads the team with six blocks.
·         Over the past four games, Bellamy has collected multiple steals, including four steals twice -- vs. Wake Forest (Nov. 28) and vs. Southern Illinois (Dec. 10).

COMEBACK VICTORY
·         IUPUI’s victory over IU-Southeast on Nov. 23 gave the Jaguars their first win of the year and the first of the Austin Parkinson era.
·         The Jaguars trailed by 10 with 15:59 to play, before going on a 21-2 run to recapture the lead, a lead it would not relinquish.
·         The comeback victory marked the first time since Feb. 14, 2009, that IUPUI has overcome a double-digit deficit to win.
·         On Feb. 14, 2009, the Jaguars overcame an 11-point deficit with 11:07 to play to defeat Oral Roberts.
