"It wasn't pretty, but we'll take it," IUPUI Head Coach
Chris Johnson said. "They've got a good team. He's got a lot of good players that caused us some problems up top."
After a whistle was blown with about 35 seconds left in the match, senior
Stephanie Hoffman played the restart inside EMU's six-yard box. Freshman
Lisa Thomas but a strike on the ball before it bounded free to Brock, the 2008 Summit League Newcomer of the Year. Brock collected the rebound and banged it into the net for her first tally of the 2009 campaign and the tenth of her career. For Thomas, it was her team-high third helper of the year.
Sophomore
Megan Hock continued her heroics in regulation, scoring the equalizer in the 90th minute. After Hoffman moved forward from her defensive position, she carried the ball up the right side before laying a ball off to Hock, who netted her fifth score in the season's first seven games.
After the first half was played largely between the 18's, both team had chances to break through first in the second half. IUPUI (5-2-0) had great opportunities from
Leslie Walker and Hock early in the second half, while EMU also built some quality chances.
Finally, EMU's Ashley Rodrigues broke through in the 83rd minute when Carissa Wilson played her in behind an IUPUI defender, setting up a breakaway with goalkeeper
Jamie Farrell. Rodrigues was able to roll a shot to the far post for her third score of the year.
Farrell finished with a season-high nine saves as EMU outshot the Jaguars 21-19. Senior
