EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The IUPUI men's soccer team played the University of Evansville dead even for over 79 minutes on Friday night before relinquishing the game-winner in the 80th minute in the second game of the 22nd ProRehab Aces Soccer Classic at Black Beauty Field. UE's Mike Luttrull netted the game-winner from five yards out off a cross from Tad Kreamalmeyer with just 10:14 left to play.

"It was another match where you compete, compete, compete, but just don't come away with a result," IUPUI Head Coach Steve Franklin said. "Hats off to Coach Jacobs and his guys. Their maturity won out in the long run and unfortunately right now, we can only rely on our youth."

With four true freshmen in the starting lineup, the Jaguars were seemingly undermanned from the opening kickoff as Evansville (4-2-0) kept constant pressure on the IUPUI (1-4-1) defense. For the game, the hosts outshot IUPUI 23-7 overall and had six corner kicks while not allowing a single Jaguar corner. Every UE starter in the field attempted at least one shot and eight of the 10 were credited with at least two.

Tom Irvin led the way with four attempts.

However, sophomore goalkeeper Tyler Keever and the Jaguars defense were equal to the task as Keever made three saves in net.

"Keever made two outstanding saves to keep us in the match," Franklin said. "Defensively, we're getting the job done. Derek Craig, Emile Garcia and Michael Wignot have done a great job back there, but anytime we lose focus, it comes up to bite us.

"I love the fact that this team continues to play hard. I'll never question the guys' heart. Now we need to win one of these close ones so they know the hard work's paying off."

The loss was IUPUI's fourth in five games, three of which have come by a one goal margin. IUPUI will wrap up play at the four-team even on Sunday when it plays Eastern Illinois at noon.
