INDIANAPOLIS. - Coming off a 10 day break since their last match, the IUPUI women's soccer team came out flat against IPFW on Wednesday night, falling 3-0. IUPUI was outshot 15-6 for the match as Stacy Downing (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) accounted for two of IUPUI's attempts.

IPFW freshman Heather Currie scored two of the team's three second half goals in the win. After a dull first half saw the two teams combine for just four shots, three corner kicks and 11 fouls, IPFW came out as the aggressors in the second stanza.

Brittany Saylor broke the scoreless tie in the 58th minute when she took passes from Colleen Mee and Lindsay Williamson and headed a shot past Jessie Mann (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove) from inside the six-yard box. It was Saylor's third score of the year.

IUPUI's best offensive attack of the match came in the 69th minute. Sophomore Sheri Levack (Portage, Ind./Portage) set the table with a corner kick, which Downing followed by putting a shot on goal.

After IPFW goalkeeper Shannon Lynn pushed the save over the crossbar, IUPUI again threatened on the ensuing corner kick. This time, Levack played the ball to the middle of the box where Mia Moody (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) was able to get a touch. Moody had her attempt blocked before Joan Vidimos (Chesterton, Ind./Andrean) had her try deflected wide right.

Levack had two more corners in the next minute, but the Jaguars were unable to capitalize.

IPFW got great individual efforts from Currie to put the match away. In the 80th minute, Currie carried the ball through IUPUI's back line before beating Mann with a shot to the far post. She capped the scoring in the 86th minute she flared a shot over Mann's head from about 25 yards out.

IPFW improved to 3-6-3 overall while the Jags slipped to 2-6-2.

"We obviously didn't play the way we're capable of playing," IUPUI head coach Chris Johnson said. "I'm not really sure what happened tonight.

"When we come out on Sunday, we'll play a much different game than we did today."

Saylor led the IPFW attack with three shots as IPFW enjoyed a 12-5 shot differential in the second half. Both teams had six corner kicks.

The Jags return to action on Sunday when they host Centenary in a pivotal Mid-Continent Conference matchup. Game time is slated for 1 p.m. from Kuntz Stadium.
