KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Beginning a stretch where they will play five matches in three days, the IUPUI women's tennis team dropped both of the matches in their Summit League cluster on Friday at the Plaza Tennis Center.  The Jaguars lost, 7-0, to Western Illinois in the morning session before falling to Southern Utah, 7-0, in the afternoon.

IUPUI (1-19, 1-4 Summit) dropped the early doubles point to Western Illinois as the Westerwinds took the first two matches, 8-4 and 8-1. 

In singles play, all five Jaguars who competed moved up a spot, vacating the No. 6 singles match, giving WIU a 2-0 lead to begin singles play.  While both Vanessa Carna and Sondra Caputo were able to win games against their opponents, Western Illinois overpowered the Jags in recording the sweep.

In the afternoon session, the Jaguars were not able to muster much momentum in a 7-0 loss to Southern Utah.  IUPUI picked up just five games in the seven matches that were contested. 

The Jaguars will seek their second Summit League win of the year when they take on South Dakota State Saturday in Kansas City.  The matches will begin at 2 p.m. CT from the Plaza Tennis Center.
