VALPARAISO, Ind. -- Competing with just four players, the IUPUI women's tennis team gave a valiant effort before falling, 5-2, to Valparaiso Friday night at the Matchpoint Tennis Center. 

IUPUI (0-9) got wins from Emily Holsapple and Vanessa Carna at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, but needing to win all four singles matches to win the match, could only muster those two victories.

At No. 1, Holsapple rallied to defeat Valpo's Jenny Schwartz, 4-6, 6-0, 10-8 in a super tie-break.  Carna won in straight sets versus Molly Keifer, 7-5, 6-2.

Karlee Rush and Sondra Caputo fell at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, to give Valparaiso the victory.  The Crusaders also picked up points at No. 5 and No. 6 singles due to IUPUI's lack of players.

In double play, Valpo swept the Jaguars, winning at No. 1 and No. 2 while the Jags defaulted at No. 3.

IUPUI will continue on their road trip, heading into Milwaukee, Wis., to take on Wisconsin-Milwaukee.  The matches will begin at 6:00 p.m. CT.
