DAYTON, Ohio - The IUPUI men's soccer team was less than nine minutes away from claiming its second victory of the season until Wright State's offense finally got on track late in regulation. The Jaguars, clinging to a one-goal lead from the 20th minute on, saw the Raiders knot the score in the 82nd minute and steal the win in the 105th.

WSU's Brian Cothern scored the game-tying goal and setup Brad Bamberger's game-winner.

"We didn't close out and I think that's because we're unfamiliar in that role," IUPUI Head Coach Steve Franklin said. "In the first half, I think we did what we set out to do and that was control the tempo. They like to play very direct."

Junior Nate Ohmer tallied a goal for the second straight game to give IUPUI a 1-0 lead less than 20 minutes into the match. Ohmer blazed a shot from nearly 25 yards out to the near post, tying him with Michael Wignot for the team lead in goals.

"It was a laser," Franklin said of Ohmer's score. "Just a brilliant shot."

Defensively, IUPUI (1-10-3) hung in against the more physical Raiders with freshman goalkeeper Alex Mannen making just his second career start.

"They kind of like to bang into you like Shaq and try to make the ball pop out," Franklin said. "That's what they did tonight. We wanted to keep an eye on Braden Fleak, who kind of hurt us last year."

WSU goalkeeper Corey Whisenhunt helped set the table on the game-tying goal, sending a long 50-50 ball down the field. Jordan Haggit managed to settle the ball before playing it off to Cothern who was able to beat Mannen with a shot to the far post with 8:49 left in regulation.

In the second overtime, Cothern sent a free kick into the IUPUI box where Bamberger flicked a shot over Mannen's head for the golden goal.

"We're just not accustomed to winning yet. It's frustrating," Franklin said. "They're coming off a big win over Loyola and we just haven't figured out how to get it done."

Mannen made seven saves in defeat as the Jaguars were outshot 21-10 and saw WSU (4-8-1) enjoy a 10-1 advantage in corner kicks. IUPUI was also whistled for 20 fouls while the hosts were called for just six.

IUPUI will now return home to take part in its second annual 'Kick for the Cure' game when it hosts Oral Roberts on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.. The Jags will wear pink jerseys, with proceeds being donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation as Richard Mann P.C., Attorney at Law, will be sponsoring the contest.  Last year’s event raised more than $2,000.

During the soccer match, some of the players’ jerseys will be auctioned off while four others are currently being auctioned off online. For details on the online auction, click here.
