INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI women's soccer team got a goal and an assist from both Alicia Brock and Katrina McCrory as the Jaguars won a battle of The Summit League's unbeatens on Friday night by fending off North Dakota State, 3-1 at Kuntz Stadium. The win was IUPUI's 12th straight since opening the year 0-2.

McCrory got the offense going less than four minutes into the contest when she drilled a shot into the right half of the net after Brock had dribbled along right side of the 18-yard box to set up the play.

"It was really exciting. With North Dakota State coming in, we knew it was going to be tough," McCrory said. "It was nice to kind of get going and get our feet on the ground and get a lead right away."

It was McCrory's fifth goal of the season and Brock's second helper.

IUPUI (12-2, 4-0 Summit) kept the heat on, outshooting NDSU (6-6-2, 3-1 Summit) 8-4 in the opening half, but was unable to build a cushion heading into halftime.

The Bison came out with more energy to start the second half and promptly tied the score in the 56th minute. After the Jaguars' defense was unable to clear a loose ball, it came free to Brooklyn Dice who played a short pass back to Lorraine Thompson. Thompson was able to fire a clean drive from 12 yards out that senior goalkeeper Jamie Farrell was unable to react to. The goal snapped Farrell's stretch of scoreless minutes at nearly 370.

"I was a little disappointed that we didn't match their energy to start the second half," Johnson said. "The maturity of our team just continues to grow throughout the season. Our girls have shown that even in the face of adversity that we can come back from just about anything."

The offense immediately rekindled the heat and the Jaguars finally tallied the game-winner when McCrory assisted Brock in the 75th minute. McCrory picked off an errant pass and immediately sent a through ball to a sprinting Brock who had raced behind the defense. Brock took the pass in stride and rolled a shot past Kalani Bertsch for her seventh score of the season.

"We got lucky they gave the ball away in the back and it worked out that we were both in the right position," McCrory said of her team-high fifth assist of the season. "Alicia did a great job of finishing like she usually does."

The Jaguars added some insurance with just 3:02 left when sophomore Alexandria Baer netted her first score of the year. Senior Leslie Walker slid a short pass out to the right flank where Baer did the rest, running past her defender and beating Bertsch for her second career goal.

IUPUI finished the night with a 14-8 shot advantage and allowed the Bison only two attempts on net. Brock and McCrory led all players with three shots each and Thompson led NDSU with two as a reserve.

"I was glad to get out on top early on," Johnson said. "I thought we could get a couple more in the first half and really stick the knife in there and finish them off. That's what we need to continue to learn to do is to get up on top and keep people down and not allow them to hang around and think they're in the game."

IUPUI concludes its two-game weekend homestand on Sunday when it hosts South Dakota State at Kuntz Stadium at 1:00 p.m..
