BID NOW ON PINK SOCCER JERSEYS
INDIANAPOLIS -- The IUPUI volleyball team, along with the men’s soccer program, will be recognizing National Breast Cancer Awareness Month next weekend and are asking fans to help “Pack It Pink” at both The Jungle and Kuntz Stadium Oct. 23 and 24.
The volleyball team will don pink uniforms as part of “Dig Pink” on Friday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m., when they host South Dakota State in a key Summit League matchup.
As part of a national rally during October, IUPUI is one of many colleges and high schools hosting Dig Pink matches all across the country to help educate and raise funds to help fight breast cancer. Fans are encouraged to wear something pink to show their support for breast cancer awareness.
“We’re proud to be a part of ‘Dig Pink,’” IUPUI volleyball coach
Steve Payne said. “Over the last two years, the IUPUI and Indianapolis community has been very supportive of our efforts and we’re hoping for even more support this year.”
Likewise, the men’s soccer team will play their second annual “Kick for the Cure” on Saturday, Oct. 24, when they take on Oral Roberts from Kuntz Stadium at 2 p.m. ET. The Jags will wear pink jerseys, with proceeds being donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation as Richard Mann P.C., Attorney at Law, will be sponsoring the contest. Last year’s event raised more than $2,000.
During the soccer match, some of the players’ jerseys will be auctioned off while other jerseys will be auctioned off online during the week leading up to the contest. Details of the online auction will be forthcoming.
“This is a worthy cause and I really hope our fans, our campus and our community will step up and support us in our efforts,” men’s soccer head coach
Steve Franklin said.
