INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI men's soccer team will play host to crosstown rival Butler at Kuntz Stadium at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday night. Youth wearing their respective club jerseys will be admitted for free while accompanying adults will be charged just $2.
Head Coach
Steve Franklin's team comes in with a 1-7-3 overall mark with six of the losses coming by a single goal margin. The Jaguars have been solid defensively, posting a 1.19 goals against average thanks largely to sophomore goalkeeper
Tyler Keever. Keever has an .812 save percentage in his 10 starts this season while the defense has yet to yield more than two goals in any game this season.
Offensively, IUPUI has struggled, having been shutout in each of its past four outings. Freshman
Emile Garcia and sophomore
Yogi Snider lead the way with a goal and an assist each. Senior forward
Eric Weigman, who was recently named among the 10 finalists for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award, scored the Jaguars last goal against Eastern Illinois on Sept. 20.
Butler (8-1-1) comes in riding back-to-back wins including a 2-1 thriller at No. 14 Indiana last Wednesday. Senior forward Boris Gatzky paces the Bulldog attack with four goals and four assists. More impressively, the BU defense has allowed just six goals all season with two goalkeepers splitting time. Nick Hegeman has a 0.46 goals against average and four wins in his five starts.
IUPUI is just 1-8-1 all-time against Butler and hasn't beaten the Bulldogs since 2001. The series between the two schools began in 1989 and they've played every year since the 2001 campaign.
