INDIANAPOLIS -- With just five players, the IUPUI women's tennis team started their match against SIU-Edwardsville at a disadvantage, falling 7-0 to the Cougars on Friday night at the University of Indianapolis Tennis Bubble.

IUPUI (0-1) took just four games off of Southern Illinois-Edwardsville (1-0) in singles play, as Emily Hoslapple fell at No. 1 singles, 0-6, 1-6.  2008 Summit League Second Team honoree Vanessa Carna took two games in losing, 1-6, 1-6.

In doubles, Carna and Holsapple lost at No. 1, 2-8.  The duo of Karlee Rush and Sondra Caputo dropped their match at No. 2, 0-8.

With just six players, IUPUI handed SIU-Edwardsville two points at the start of the match - forfeiting the No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles points.

The Jaguars will be back in action on Friday, Jan. 23, when they will bus to Normal, Ill., for a match with Illinois State.  The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. CT.
