INDIANAPOLIS - Junior Katrina McCrory posted her first career multi-goal game and freshman phenom Alicia Brock scored her team-high fourth of the season as the IUPUI women's soccer team cruised past South Dakota at Kuntz Stadium on Friday night.

IUPUI (3-3-0) outshot the Coyotes 20-8 on the evening and toiled its second straight shutout to climb back to .500 on the young season.

"We did a nice solid job with just three in the back again tonight," IUPUI Head Coach Chris Johnson said. "That allows us to get more numbers going forward and they did a really good job of getting our attack started tonight."

McCrory needed just 67 seconds to put the Jaguars on the board when she chipped a free kick over the defensive wall and past USD (3-5-0) goalkeeper Jennifer Ogren into the right half of the net. IUPUI was awarded the free kick from 14 yards out when Brock drew heavy contact after splitting a pair of defenders along USD's back line on IUPUI's first possession of the game.

The Jaguars kept the heat on in the first half, but was unable to solve Ogren despite controlling the action.

Unfortunately for USD, Ogren was forced to leave the game in the 56th minute after colliding with freshman Alexandria Baer and her replacement, Ann Opsahl, allowed two goals in a 66 second stretch shortly thereafter.

Brock made it 2-0 in the 61st minute when she capitalized on a Megan Hock feed from point blank range. Hock maneuvered her way up the left side before driving a cross through the six-yard box. Brock, who was situated at the back post, got enough of the ball to slot it past Opsahl for some much needed breathing room.

McCrory scored moments later when a ball came free after a corner kick, finding her feet at the top of the 18. The right-footed midfielder laced a shot through traffic inside the right post for her third score of the year.

"Kat puts herself in the right place at the right time," Johnson said. "She does a good job of putting shots through the defenders that goalies just can't see. When she's active and around the ball, making plays, we can be dangerous."

Brock led the IUPUI offense with five shots and Hock and McCrory tried three each. Amanda Snyder and Stacy Levack each fired two attempts off the bench as Johnson was able to play 23 different players in the victory.

At the other end of the field, junior goalkeeper Jamie Farrell was barely tested in recording her second shutout of the season as most of USD's attempts came from well beyond the 18-yard box. Michelle Marshall challenged her with a drive early in the second half, forcing her into a four-point stance to make the save. Otherwise, IUPUI's back line kept the Coyotes attackers off balanced and off the ball.

"The back line does a great job of communicating and working together," Johnson said. "Even when we went to Stephanie Hoffman and Lauren Gallets, the play didn't drop off tonight."

The Jaguars four-game homestand will continue on Sunday when the Jaguars host Eastern Michigan at Kuntz at 1:00 p.m.. Johnson's team will conduct a 45-minute clinic before the game as part of the Indiana Youth Soccer's Stars Program. Those interested in taking part in the clinic can register by clicking here.
