INDIANAPOLIS - The shorthanded IUPUI women's tennis team went 1-1 at its Summit League cluster on Saturday afternoon. Playing with just five players, the Jaguars dropped a 4-0 morning decision to Oakland before rebounding to collect a 5-2 win over South Dakota State in the afternoon. 

Playing indoors in the morning due to heavy fog, IUPUI got off to a sluggish start by losing the doubles point. OU's No. 2 team of Gabrielle Gogas and Amanda Scheer earned an 8-4 win over Vanessa Carna and Lisa Gebhard and won by default at No. 3 to make it 1-0. 

In singles play, Lindsey Grimmer defeated Allison Thompson at No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-0 and Jackie Dinicu won over Gebhard at No. 5 to go along with the automatic point at No. 6 to seal the match. 

Carna had a 6-2, 3-2 lead at No. 3 singles and Emily Holsapple was a game away from winning her No. 4 singles match at 6-2, 5-1 when the match was halted. 

In the afternoon, the Jagaurs captured momentum from the outset en route to a 5-2 victory. Carna and Gebhard claimed an 8-5 victory at No. 2 doubles and Andrea Burkhardt and Holsapple squeaked out a 9-7 win at No. 1 for the early point. 

From there, the Jags breezed in singles play. 

Carna blitzed her opponent at No. 3 by a 6-0, 6-0 count and Burkhardt followed suit with a 6-1, 6-2 victory in her No. 2 match. Holsapple ended it with a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 4 and Thompson fell in line by beating Kate Wylie 6-3, 6-2 on court No. 1.

IUPUI will conclude play on Sunday morning with a 9 a.m. start against UMKC at the Indianapolis Tennis Center.
