ELMHURST, Ill - IUPUI men’s soccer player Vangel Nacovski has been named the Summit League Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending on Oct. 21. The 6-foot midfielder helped IUPUI improve to a 3-0 in conference play with a 2-1 win at preseason favorite Western Illinois on Saturday. IUPUI overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit to collect the road win.
Meanwhile, the 3-0 start is IUPUI’s best ever in conference play.
Nacovski, a senior, scored the game-winning goal with just 8:03 left in the match for his team-best fifth score of the season. For his career, Nacovski ranks ninth in conference history with 33 goals and ranks second on IUPUI’s all-time list with 13 game-winners.
This marks the fourth time in Nacovski’s college career he’s earned the league’s weekly award. He becomes the third IUPUI player to win Summit League Player of the Week honors this season, joining Dan Heidari (Defensive - 9/17) and Louie Leger (Offensive - 10/8).
IUPUI returns to action on Wednesday night when they host the Butler Bulldogs at Michael A. Carroll Stadium at 7:00 p.m..
