INDIANAPOLIS - IUPUI Assistant Basketball Coach Joseph Price was named to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame’s 2007 men’s Silver Anniversary Team, which recognizes outstanding high school graduates from 25 years earlier.
Price prepped at Marion High School for Hall of Fame coach Bill Green, earning three All-North Central Conference selections. He was named to the prestigious Indiana All-Star team following his senior season and was a Mr. Basketball candidate. He later played for Digger Phelps at Notre Dame before enjoying an extensive professional career overseas.
“This is the highest compliment you can get - to be recognized alongside the best in the state,” Price said. “Several of them are good friends of mine to this day.”
Price was joined on the 2007 team by current Chicago Bulls’ head coach Scott Skiles (Plymouth), Phil Wendel (Plymouth), 1982 Mr. Basketball Roger Harden (Valparaiso), Ken Barlow (Cathedral), Mack Gadis (Pike), John Sherman Williams (Washington), Myron Christian (Evansville Bosse), Tracy Foster (Homestead), Derek Lindauer (Evansville Central), Stew Robinson (Anderson Madison Heights), Renaldo Thomas (Gary Roosevelt) and Tim Vieke (Vincennes).
Price recalled competing against many of the players for numerous years.
“I always enjoyed competing against those guys at camps, AAU and then during the season and through tournament time. I always liked to measure myself and my game against those top guys in the state.
“I’m honored to be mentioned with them.”
The 12 men will be recognized as part of the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame men’s induction dinner March 21 at Primo’s Banquet Hall in Indianapolis.
