ELMHURST, Ill. -- The Summit League has announced that IUPUI junior volleyball player #Danielle Goodnight# has been named The Summit League Offensive Player of the Week.

Goodnight is the third IUPUI volleyball player to be honored by The Summit in 2008; senior Chelsea Bastin was named defensive player of the week on Sept. 8, while freshman Kalyse Reimbold picked up offensive player of the week honors on Oct. 27.

In helping IUPUI go 1-1 over the weekend, Goodnight tallied 73 assists as the Jaguars defeated IPFW, 3-0, and fell to Oakland, 3-1.  Her 73 assists gave her 1,163 for the season, the eighth-best total in school history.

In leading the Jaguars to a season sweep of the Mastodons, Goodnight tallied 37 assists, aiding IUPUI’s attack that hit at a .311 clip with 46 kills.  Goodnight followed up that performance with 36 assists in IUPUI’s loss at Oakland.

The Martinsville H.S.-product leads The Summit League with 10.29 assists per set, making her a leading contender for the conference’s setter of the year award, to be announced on Nov. 20.

Goodnight has the top three single-game assist totals in The Summit in 2008, posting  50 or more assists in six contests in 2008.

After a one-year hiatus, Goodnight helped lead the Jaguars back to The Summit League Tournament, where IUPUI will be the No. 4 seed.  IUPUI’s 16 wins are their most since the 2003 campaign.

The Jaguars will take on Summit League regular season champion North Dakota State on Friday, Nov. 20.  The match will begin from the Cooper Aerobics Center in Tulsa, Oka., at 7:30 p.m. CT.
