INDIANAPOLIS - IUPUI freshman forward Megan Hock scored two goals off the bench and the defense notched its seventh shutout of the season as the Jaguars rolled past Evansville by a 2-0 score at Michael A. Carroll Stadium on Tuesday afternoon. IUPUI improved to 11-6-0 on the season, setting a new single-season record with the 11 victories.

The win was the fourth-in-a-row and eighth in the past nine games.

"We're definitely excited about getting to 11 wins," IUPUI Head Coach Chris Johnson said. "The goals we set were to make it to the conference tournament and to win the conference. Both of those things are still in front of us. We're not satisfied with where we're at."

Evansville, which already claimed a share of the Missouri Valley Conference crown, dropped to 11-4-2 on the season. Tuesday's blanking was just the second time this season UE was shutout.

Hock put IUPUI in front late in the first half, netting her fifth goal of the season in the 34th minute. Sophomore Amanda Snyder lined a left-footed corner kick to the near post, where Hock redirected the drive past UE goalkeeper Theresa Bagby.

The assist was Snyder's first of the season.

With a one goal lead, the Jaguars were seemingly content to pack it in defensively and allow its stout defense to continue its winning ways. However, the methodical offense found an opportunity to put the game away in the 77th minute when Hock capped her first career multi-goal game.

Freshman Alex Baer sent a square ball into a sprinting Alicia Brock just inside the midfield stripe, who hit a shot off the crossbar from over 25 yards out. Hock was able to settle the rebound and overpower a UE defender before nudging the ball just over the endline for her sixth tally of the season.

"I don't get as many opportunities as I used to (in high school)," Hock said. "It felt good though, to get those opportunities today."

"She does a great job of being around the ball and in the mouth of the goal," Johnson said of Hock. "In addition, there's something to be said for just being active and to keep working up top."

Offensively, IUPUI outshot the Purple Aces 16-13 overall as both teams put eight on net. The Jaguars also had a decisive 9-1 edge on corner kicks in the win.

Brock led all players with four shots while Snyder had three off the bench. Mia Tofano and Kayla Lambert led Evansville with three attempts each.

IUPUI junior goalkeeper Jamie Farrell made eight stops to collect her 12th career shutout and lower her goals against average to 0.78 this season. She's now held the opposition scoreless for more than 200 straight minutes in net.  Bagby gathered six saves for UE.

Following the match, IUPUI honored its lone senior, defender Lindsey Warfield, after the final home match of her career. Warfield made her 44th career start on Tuesday and currently leads IUPUI defensive players with two assists this season.

The Jaguars closed 2008 with a 7-2 mark at home. IUPUI returns to Summit League play on Friday when it heads to Tulsa, Okla. to take on Oral Roberts for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
