CEDAR CITY, Utah - Fighting for the final spot in the upcoming Summit League Tournament, Southern Utah got the best of the Jaguars, and the No. 4 seed, by virtue of a 4-1 win over IUPUI at Thunderbird Soccer Field. Sophomore Katrina McCrory accounted for all of the Jaguars' offense in the 74th minute with a penalty kick.
The T-Birds (6-5-5, 2-3-3 Summit) scored just 90 seconds into the match when Shaley Ipson netted her first of two goals on a cross from Ashley Westphal. In the 31st minute, Ipson struck again, this time off the first of three Cassidy Berlin assists on the day.
Southern Utah's lead swelled to 3-0 before halftime as Berlin set up Jessica Heninger.
McCrory scored her second goal of the season after being pulled down in the box and converting the ensuing penalty kick.
Unfortunately, that would be the lone bright spot of the day as SUU's Kristen Fronk capped the day's scoring with just 16 seconds left.
Southern Utah outshot IUPUI 20-9 overall and 14-7 on net. IUPUI sophomore goalkeeper Jamie Farrell made eight saves in defeat while Holly Senter made five stops for the hosts.
McCrory and senior Angie Pilat led the Jags with two shots apiece.
IUPUI closed the 2007 campaign with a 3-12-3 record and 2-5-1 mark in Summit League play. Freshman MaryBeth McMillan finished as IUPUI's leading scorer with four goals while head coach Chris Johnson's team will lose four seniors to graduation.
