Men's basketball standout George Hill has been named the IUPUI Male Student-Athlete of the Month for February after powering the Jaguars to a 7-1 record during the month and the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Summit League Tournament.
In eight games, Hill averaged 23.3 points, 7.1 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game, while shooting better than 57 percent from the field. In addition, he shot better than 82 percent at the foul line and let the team in scoring, rebounds, assists, free throws made and minutes played.
He scored at least 16 points in all eight games while eclipsing the 30-point mark twice. He also racked up three double-doubles during February.
His most impressive outing of the month may have come at North Dakota State on Feb. 9 when he went off for 33 points, seven assists and six rebounds in the Jags' come-from-behind 69-67 win in Fargo. Two weeks later, he dropped 30 points and 11 rebounds on IPFW in an 88-81 overtime win.
He earned Summit League Player of the Week honors for the fourth time this year on Feb. 4 after notching 23 points and 10 rebounds in a win over UMKC.
During the month, he also became the first-ever IUPUI player to amass over 1,500 points, 500 rebounds and 300 assists in his career. He currently ranks fifth on the program's all-time scoring list (1,547 points), seventh in assists (308), ninth in steals (150) and tenth in rebounds (522).
He closed the regular season leading The Summit in scoring (21.2 ppg), while ranking third in steals (1.79 spg), fifth in rebounds (6.6 rpg), field goal percentage (55.6%) and assists (4.41 apg).
