The IUPUI Department of Athletics has announced that IUPUI sophomore diver Chen Ni has been named the IUPUI Student-Athlete of the Month for February.
Ni shattered The Summit League record on the 3-meter board during the conference championships en route to her second consecutive 3-meter title. In the preliminaries of the event, Ni recorded a score of 311.60 over six dives, erasing the previous conference mark of 282.70, set by Ni in last year's conference championship.
In the finals, Ni took the 3-meter crown with a score of 307.50, the second-best score in both IUPUI and Summit League history. The two scores above 300 were the first of Ni's career.
The sophomore was runner-up for The Summit League Diver of the Year title and was one of two Jaguars to earn All-Summit League honors.
The honor is the fifth of Ni's career, and second of the 2009-10 season.
Ni will compete on the platform at the Zone C Diving Championships March 12-14 at Purdue University in an effort to qualify for the NCAA Championships, which will also be held in West Lafayette, Ind., March 18-20.
