Freshman basketball standout #Alex Young# has been selected IUPUI's Male Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of November. The 6-foot-5 swingman helped the Jaguars open the year with a 4-2 record and currently leads the team in scoring at 14.2 points per game. 

Young began his collegiate career on a high note, netting 17 points in the opener against Northeastern, establishing the most points by an IUPUI rookie in their collegiate debut in the program's Division I history. In all, Young has scored in double-figures five times in the season's first six games and led the Jags in scoring twice. 

On Nov. 25, Young hit a season-high four treys and scored 20 points as the Jags outlasted Eastern Illinois inside Conseco Fieldhouse. His 20 points were the most by an IUPUI player this season. 

Young capped the month with 11 points as the Jaguars knocked off Western Michigan in Kalamazoo. It was IUPUI's first-ever road win over a Mid-American Conference opponent.

For the month, Young started all six games and averaged 14.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and a steal per game.
