Junior forward Nevena Markovic has been chosen as the IUPUI Women’s Athlete of the Month for December 2013 after helping the Jaguars post a 4-2 record during the month.
Markovic, a 6-4 forward, averaged 13.2 ppg, 7.7 rpg, 1.3 spg, 1.0 apg and 1.0 bpg for the month while shooting 45.0 percent (27-of-60) from the field and 87.0 percent (20-of-23) from the free throw line.
The Wheaton, Ill.-native scored in double figures in five of the Jaguars six games, including scoring 14 or more points four times and posting two double-doubles at Indiana State and at Northwestern. Against the Wildcats on Dec. 21, Markovic scored 15 points and grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds, which were the most rebounds for an IUPUI player in a game since the 2007-08 season.
