Women's soccer standout #Jamie Farrell# has been voted the IUPUI Female Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of October. The junior goalkeeper led the Jaguars to an 8-1-0 overall mark during the month and an unblemished 5-0 record in Summit League play.
In addition, the Jaguars claimed their first league postseason appearance since 2001 and a share of The Summit League regular season crown for the first time ever. In addition, the Jags have won a school record 13 games and are amidst a school-record six-game winning streak.
Farrell started all nine matches in goal, registering a 0.71 goals against average, 48 saves and four shutouts. She recorded a season-high 10 saves against Western Illinois on Oct. 19 and had the first ever assist by an IUPUI goalkeeper in the victory. She was later selected The Summit League Defensive Player of the Week for her play. Other significant single-game performances included a shutout against Butler on Oct. 24, which was IUPUI's first ever victory over the Bulldogs. Four days later, she blanked Evansville 2-0 at Michael A. Carroll Stadium after the Purple Aces had recently wrapped up the Missouri Valley Conference crown.
During the month, she became IUPUI's all-time leader in wins and saves and increased her career record total of shutouts to 13.
For the season, Farrell leads The Summit in goals against average (0.75) and save percentage (.859) and is tied for the league lead in shutouts (8) and ranks third in saves (85).
