Murphy opened her 2019-2020 indoor season with a huge school record in the 5,000m event at the GVSU Holiday Open on Friday (Dec. 6), spinning a time of 16:48.70 in the event. Murphy became the first IUPUI runner to ever go under 17 minutes indoor, shedding 35 seconds off the prior school record and 1:12 off her personal best on the indoor surface. She ultimately placed eighth of 70 entries in the event at the GVSU event.
