Senior men's cross country runner Robert Murphy has been named IUPUI's Male Athlete of the Month for October 2016. The Warsaw, Ind.-native continued his incredible final collegiate season, running an 8K PR at the ISU Pre-Nationals Invitational before winning The Summit League individual title to cap the month. 

Murphy opened the month by placing 19th overall against a nationally elite field at the ISU Pre-Nationals on Oct. 15, running a personal best time of 24:23.6. His time was the second fastest in IUPUI history and earned him Summit League Athlete of the Week honors. 

He capped the month by winning Championship MVP honors at The Summit League Championships, running a winning time of 25:11.7. He outkicked 2015 All-American Joel Reichow down the stretch to capture his third individual race win of the season.
