IUPUI senior Robert Murphy has been named the department's Male Athlete of the Month for April 2017. Murphy posted an NCAA Regional qualifying time in the 3,000m steeplechase to highlight his month. 

At. Mt. SAC, Murphy placed 17th in the elite heat of the steeplechase, posting a season-best time of 8:53.64 against the nation's top runners. 

Later in the month at the Illinois Twilight, Murphy placed second in the 5,000m event in a time of 14:26.53, the fastest by a Jaguar this season.
