One of the most decorated individual student-athletes in IUPUI history, Kaitlyn Hickey enters her second season as a volunteer assistant coach in 2017. The former Jaguar outside hitter and two-time All-American selection helped the Jags to an 8-8 finish in Summit League play in her first season as a coach, which included yet another trip to the Summit League Tournament.
Hickey joins the Jags after four immaculate years at IUPUI as a player. While playing as a six-rotation outside hitter, Hickey capped her career with back-to-back All-American Honorable Mentions in 2014 and 2015 and was the Summit League Player of the Year during her senior season. Twice she was named an AVCA All-North Region selection in addition to four All-Summit League selections. She was tabbed the Summit League Freshman of the Year in 2012 and picked up two All-Summit League Tournament selections in addition to an Academic All-Summit League nod.
A do-it-all threat, Hickey garnered numerous records while at IUPUI, including setting the single-season record for most solo blocks in program lore (28). She holds the career mark with 76 and also led the league in digs-per-set by a non-libero in 2013. In 2015, she became the first IUPUI and Summit League player to amass 1,500 kills and 1,500 digs while picking up three Summit League Player of the Week awards that season. She also led her team and finished second in the league with 3.88 kills-per-set.
