EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The IU Indianapolis men's soccer team will put a two-game winning streak on the line when the Jaguars head south to face Southern Indiana (0-0-2) on Wednesday night (Sept. 2). The game will now be played at 7:00 p.m. CT (8 Eastern) due to extreme heat. Defensively, the Jaguars come in hot with back-to-back 1-0 shutout wins over Lindenwood and Bowling Green. The Jaguars haven't recorded three straight clean sheets since Sept. 28-Oct. 8, 2024 when they blanked Oakland, Detroit Mercy and Butler in succession. 

The Jags are looking for the program's first 3-1 start since 2006. 

Against BGSU, freshman Peter Field dialed up four saves and rookie Thomas Weinrich tallied in the 80th minute for the game-winner. Fellow freshman Santiago Sanchez set Weinrich free before the freshman striker curled a shot inside the far post in his collegiate debut. Senior Jose Antonio Herrera continues to lead the squad with a pair of goals, both from the penalty spot, in the season's first three games. 

Defensively, Luke Gonda, Noah Kummrow and Jago Thompson-Roberts have played all 270 minutes in the defensive third while junior Jai Dindiyal has played every minute in the midfield. Herrera leads the attack with seven shot attempts while Sanchez and Tyson Aschliman have attempted four apiece. 

QUOTABLE
"It feels, it feels great. It feels great. I think 90 minutes, the boys bought in. We were blue collar today, something that we've preached for a week, something that we've taught day one. I couldn't be more proud of the boys," head coach Keegan Boom said following the 1-0 win over Bowling Green. 

RANKED
The Jaguars are now ranked in the United Soccer Coaches North Region, checking in at No. 10 this week. IU Indy is the lone non-Big Ten team in the polls as the top nine spots are occupied by B10 programs. 
 
AWARDS
Freshman Peter Field was named the #HLMSOC Defensive Player of the Week after back-to-back shutouts over Lindenwood and Bowling Green. Lindenwood entered play as the reigning Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) champs while the win over BGSU was the Jaguars' first victory over the Falcons since 2004. He was also named TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week honorable mention for his efforts and was named to the Unigol Team of the Week. 
 
KNOW YOUR FOE
USI is 0-0-2 to start the year with road draws at Milwaukee (0-0) and at Northern Kentucky (2-2). Tony Murphy collected assists on both goals at NKU while Brian Novillo and Isaac Weidner scored for the Screaming Eagles. In goal, Jacob English has played all 180 minutes and owns a 1.00 goals against average and eight saves in two starts. 

SERIES HISTORY
The series history is deadlocked at 2-2 in four meetings all-time. The Jaguars won 3-2 last season on Sept. 6 as Nathaniel Isom tallied the game-winner in the 88th minute and junior midfielder Bali Esquivel had a pair of assists.
