LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The IU Indianapolis men's soccer team will play its final non-conference contest of the season on Tuesday (Oct. 13) when the Jaguars head south to play Bellarmine (5-2-4) at 3:00 p.m. at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium. Head coach
Keegan Boom's team is coming off a much needed 1-1 home draw with Robert Morris last Wednesday, thanks to a late
Jose Antonio Herrera penalty kick.
Herrera netted his team-high fifth goal of the season, and fourth from the penalty spot, in the 80th minute for a late equalizer. The Jaguars outshot RMU 15-6 overall and 7-2 on frame, but yielded a goal in the 14th minute on a poor clearance, leaving them chasing the game for much of the day.
Freshman
Santiago Sanchez continues to lead the team in assists (2) and is second to Herrera in total shot attempts. Senior
Jago Thompson-Roberts and junior
Jai Dindiyal continue to anchor the defense as the top two in minutes played. In goal, rookie
Peter Field owns a 1.67 goals against average and 47 saves in his 11 appearances (10 starts).
Tuesday's game also marks a homecoming for junior defender
Luke Gonda, who spent his first two collegiate seasons at Bellarmine. Gonda joined the Jaguars as a midyear transfer last year and made five appearances for the Knights in 2025.
QUOTABLE
"The next step is just being hungry. We've worked on it all week, having a desire to make those runs when times get difficult. It's a hot day today. I thought the boys did a really good job on executing moments wherever they're tired, and it's the most difficult part of the game. Continuing that, maintaining our fitness and that desire to go and win a game on the box," Boom said following the 1-1 draw with RMU.
