LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Six members of the IU Indianapolis women's track and field team earned a new personal best in their respective events as the Jaguars competed on day two of the Jim Freeman / Clark Wood Open, hosted by the University of Louisville. The Jaguars are slated to conclude the three-day meet on Saturday (Apr. 25).
Freshman
Sarah Madi-Bouabre continued to ascent in the long jump with a best effort of 5.73m (18' 9.75'') on Friday, ultimately finishing 13th of more than 40 competitors.
Madi-Bouabre then hit the track to lead the Jaguars' sprinters in the 200m event with a personal best time of 24.86 seconds, clearing her personal best by nearly a full second.
Paige Schulte spun a personal best time of 25.12 seconds and
Jahzara McAlister crossed at 25.31 seconds.
In the 400m hurdles, freshman
Sophia Palmer continued to shed time with a 1:04.33 effort and junior
Journey Howard took two seconds off her prior best to cross at 1:04.48. In the 5,000m event, freshman
Kaylynn Bedel cleared 19 minutes for the first time during the outdoor season with a time of 18:56.39.
