ATLANTA - The IU Indianapolis women's track and field squad continued to fare well to start the outdoor slate on Saturday (Mar. 21) as the Jaguars wrapped up competition at the Yellow Jacket Invite, hosted by Georgia Tech. Head coach
Antonio McDaniel's squad posted eight personal bests on Saturday and just missed a relay record as well.
The high jumper duo of
Payton Gross and
Elisa Algozine started the day with personal best marks as Gross cleared 1.57m (5' 1.75'') on her first attempt of the day and Algozine cleared 1.52m (4' 11.75''). In the 4x100 relay, the quartet of
Sophia Palmer,
Jahzara McAlister,
Paige Schulte and
Sarah Madi-Bouabre just missed a new school record, posting a time of 47.58 seconds, missing the existing mark by six-hundredths of a second.
In the 400m hurdles, Palmer paced the team's entries with a time of 1:06.45 and junior
Journey Howard finished at 1:06.63.
The 400m event saw McAlister run a personal best time of 58.05 while
Wini Barnett clocked a time of 58.55 seconds.
Skylar Ferry finished under 60 as well, crossing at 59.79 seconds. The 200m event saw Madi-Bouabre finish at 25.63 seconds while Ferry had a quick turnaround in running a time of 26.74 seconds.
The Jaguars will be back in action next weekend when they participate in the WashU. Distance Carnival in St. Louis.
