WOMEN’S TENNIS FALLS TO VIRGINIA TECH

The Jags will be back in action at the West Indy Racquet Club next weekend, Saturday, Feb. 14

INDIANAPOLIS – The IU Indianapolis women's tennis team fell to Virginia Tech, 7–0, on Friday afternoon at the West Indy Racquet Club.

The Hokies secured the match by sweeping all six singles positions after earning the doubles point to start the match. IU Indianapolis competed throughout the lineup, highlighted by several tightly contested matches against Virginia Tech's experienced roster.

Doubles play opened the match with competitive action on all three courts. The Jaguars' duo of Kally Kadzinski and Elle Kotre was locked in a close contest at No. 1 doubles before the match was left unfinished. Virginia Tech claimed victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles positions to earn the point.

At the top of the lineup, Kadzinski battled Ozlem Uslu in the No. 1 singles spot before falling 6–3, 6–2. Sara Jankovic and Calli Sokolowski also fought hard in straight-set losses at Nos. 2 and 3, with Sokolowski pushing her first set to a 7–5 decision. Chloe Bailey forced a tiebreak in the opening set at No. 4 singles before ultimately dropping the match, while Kotre and Hanan Awale rounded out singles play at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions.

With the result, IU Indianapolis moves to 2–2 on the season, while Virginia Tech improves to 2–0. The Jaguars will look to build on their early-season progress as they continue non-conference play against Lindenwood next weekend at home.
