INDIANAPOLIS – The IU Indianapolis women's tennis team battled to the wire on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 14), coming up just short in a 4-3 decision against Lindenwood at the West Indy Racquet Club.
The Jaguars claimed three singles victories and picked up a doubles win, but Lindenwood secured the narrow road victory by taking the doubles point and splitting the six singles courts.
In singles play,
Calli Sokolowski earned a gritty three-set win at No. 3, defeating Michelle Trochez 6-2, 1-6, 6-2.
Chloe Bailey followed with a comeback effort at No. 4, bouncing back after dropping the opening set to top Paola Garcia 1-6, 6-2, 7-5.
Bella Duncan added a straight-set victory at No. 6, besting Mathilde Humbert 6-4, 6-4.
Lindenwood claimed wins at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 5 singles to clinch the match.
In doubles action,
Grace Lampman and Bailey secured a 6-4 victory at No. 3 over Megan Caffin and Humbert, but the Lions took the No. 1 and No. 2 positions to earn the doubles point.
The Jaguars will return to action on February 21 when they host Huntington.
